Cinematic cliche, most often (but not exclusively) seen in chick flicks, where several characters get through an emotional crisis through singing, lip-synching, or dancing to an old Motown song.

...and then, just when you think Julia Roberts will never reconcile with the girls, the script throws in some Motown Therapy to save the day.
