Verb: To promise what you know somebody wants to hear, while realizing that the promise is impossible, in order to trick your community into placing you in a position of power, so you can renege on all previous promises and blame it on partisan gridlock.

Person 1: Bill obama'd us; he said he would cut the school year down to 3 months, provide for free steak lunches every day, and still cut down expenditures dramatically.

Person 2: Yea, he is an awful school president. Why the hell did he get elected?
