The letters on the floor pedals of a Ford Model T, corresponding to Clutch, Reverse, Brake.

Clem climbed into his 1923 Ford Model T Coupe and stomped on the C pedal, one of the three CRB pedals on the floor, sending the car lurching forward, as he had accidentally stepped on the R pedal, for reverse, not the C, for clutch.
