2. An excuse used in place of the real reason for a decision.
Guy1: Are you going to take your wife to the show?
Guy2: No, I already spent my pocket money on my girlfriend.

HR: Should we go ahead and hire that consultant?
Boss: No. He likes moonlighting for the pocket money.
