Shlitling
/sh-lit-ling/
noun
1. The little white plastic strip inside a folio/file that holds punched papers together — the thing everyone uses but nobody knew the name of… until Christina Pearl Nzuza officially named it in 2025.
2. The most unnecessarily mysterious office item of all time.
Example:
“Hey, pass me that shlitling so I can add these papers!”
“Dude… what’s a shlitling?”
“THIS. This thing. It finally has a name.”
Origin:
Coined by Christina Pearl Nzuza (South Africa, 2025) because somebody had to name the damn thing.
