Prem
A person who possesses the intelligence, awareness, and general worldly understanding of a donkey. Derived from the Tamil word kaluthai (கழுதை), meaning donkey. Prem is essentially the human equivalent of a donkey who wouldn’t recognise something valuable even if it were placed directly in front of him.
Origin: The Tamil proverb “Kaluthai-ku theriyuma karpoora vaasanai?” (கழுதைக்கு தெரியுமா கற்பூர வாசனை?) — meaning, “Would a donkey know the fragrance of camphor?” Used to describe someone who cannot appreciate or understand something good because they simply lack the sense to recognise it.
