The practice, primarily by men from NJ, of looking away as they shake your hand. Sometimes it's to see if there's someone more important in the room as they enter, other times it's a subtle reminder that they're glad you had a chance to meet them.
I just met your friend Joey, does he have a lazy eye? He seemed to be looking at something else while he was shaking my hand or did I get The Jersey Shake?
