(watch-fast) syn./adj./verb
The act of masochistically limiting one's watch worn for a lengthy period of time in order to better
appreciate its unique qualities in lieu of rotating through a large collection of alternatives. This concept was first introduced to
social media in 2017 through the Two Broke Watch Snobs podcast, where its hosts challenged listeners to forcibly become conscious of their
preferences for an entire month. The term has since been appropriated by the greater "watchfam" community through Instagram hashtags and similar narratives.
person 1: Dude, so I'm watchfasting again.
person 2: I know. The Richard Mille skeleton thing.
It's all you ever post about on
instagram. How's it goin?
person 1: Terrible. I've got this
uncontrollable urge to act like a d-bag and I can't stop ordering Jaegerbombs downtown.
person 2: Yeah, saw you were postin' those on the 'gram too.
