Texas Southern University

An HBCU in Houston, Texas. Its origins can be traced to Heman Sweatt, an African-American who applied to the University of Texas Law School in the 1940's. The university did not admit blacks. Rather than admit him, the state of Texas created an entire university and law school for blacks, which eventually came to be known as Texas Southern University and the Thurgood Marshall School of Law.
I'll be attending Texas Southern University in the Fall.

Texas Christian University

Texas Christian University is a private university located in Fort Worth, Texas. Home of the Horned Frogs, and LaDainian Tomlinson, aka the best football player in the history of EVER!!!! Bob Schieffer, a popular journalist, also attended TCU. The school colors are purple and white. Basically, the best private Christian school in the state!
Jenna: I went to Dallas Baptist University!
Kasey: Man, really? Nobody goes there. If you want a good Christian college, you better get your butt over to Texas Christian University!

Texas Tech University

Texas Tech University is located in Lubbock, TX. Some will say their rival is the University of Texas or Texas A&M. However, their true rival is Oklahoma State University. It's just fun to beat UT, and you can't call Texas A&M a rival if they never win. School colors are black and scarlet red. School mascot is the Red Raider; a masked Zoro type character that rides a black stallion. Texas Tech has many programs of study, undergraduates and professional students. The Texas Tech Red Raiders are members of the Big 12 Conference (South Division) and compete in Division I for all varsity sports. The Red Raiders football team has made 32 bowl appearances, which is 19th most of any university. It's current enrollment is just over 28,000 students. McDougal Development has headed a massive urban renewal program in Lubbock (largest in the country) building new living quarters, apartments, condos etc for the students of Texas Tech University not living in dormitories over a 727 acre span.

A wide variety of students can be found at Texas Tech. Currently the Hispanic enrollment at Texas Tech is #1 at 43%. Caucasian/white is at 40% being second.

There is nothing 3rd rate about this school except where it is located. Lubbock, TX isn't the greatest place if your moving say from any Liberal based larger city. Lubbock, TX is highly conservative and has more churches and banks per population than Vatican City ( im just saying that but i think its 2nd -or in the top 5- in the country ). The county in which Lubbock resides is a dry county, so no liquor sales inside the city limits. This however may change in spring of 2009, being petitioned by the majority of the population. Enough signatures were obtained to warrant a vote.

Enrollment at Texas Tech is growing steadily. Within the passed 8 years it has broken its highest enrollment records twice. However, state funding for Texas Tech is lower than most other states. This is not a Texas Tech factor, but rather a State of Texas factor being that all state funded schools in Texas do no receive adequate funding compared to many other States in the USA.
Texas Tech University is the seventh (7) largest University in Texas.

Texas Tech University is huge in physical size, being second in the nation.

You can never find a parking spot at Texas Tech University.

Texas State University

An amazing college located in the heart of Texas, San Marcos. Many people feel that everyone there wanted to go to UT but couldn't get in...well all of yall are wrong! Most people chose that school (i did) even after being excepted into UT.
One of the hardest schools to transfer into in Texas is Texas State University.

Texas Christian University

The #97 ranked college in the nation. One of the largest endowments in the country (1.3 BILLION!) and one of the best fan bases in college sports. Unlike LSU, our athletes have to actually be in class to get a grade, not out chasing hogs and bling blingin' in Baton Rouge. But I digress. TCU also is one of the few universities in the nation to have a seperate fund just for campus upkeep. Which is why the campus looks better than a Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Alba sandwich on a beautiful Fort Worth day. TCU is also compared to Boise State University. Why? I am not sure. Boise State has some of the most classless, livestock violating fans in the nation. Meanwhile TCU fans are running the DFW metroplex like a Formula 1 racecar. BSU somehow got the "University" label even though they aren't even as good as Idaho State or the University of Idaho academically. BSU students are there for one reason and that is to pollute home games with their immense body odor and toothless smiles when Kellen Moore throws a touchdown. TCU is also compared to Southern Methodist University. SMU was the only college to get the Death Penalty for their football violations.
Boise High School kid: "Man I wish I could get into Boise State!"

University of Idaho student: "Just open the door, and do the connect the dots and you're in from what I've heard."

Texas Christian University student: "How many Rhodes Scholars do you have?"

BSU student: "I don't work in construction!"

Texas State University

It is the university that you go to when your're smart and/or get screwed by Texas' affirmative action rule.

Then after getting turned down by UT undergrad you get recruited by MIT's graduate finance program and laugh all the way to the bank.

Oh, you got into UT because you were in the top 10%? That's so awesome! I went to Texas State University and loved it.

Yours truly,

Texas State University

*Positives*
1) Located in the beautiful town of San Marcos, Texas.

2) Only university in Texas to graduate a U.S. president. Lyndon Johnson graduate from here.

3) Majority of the students are women.

*Negatives*
1) Place students go if they can not get into University of Texas or any other university.

2) Admission requires a minimum 2.0gpa, probably the lowest addmission requirement of all universities in Texas.

3) University known for drinking, partying, and generally just immature and dumb people. *Characteristics represents about 90%(maybe higher) of student body.

4) Univerity where your chance of finding a virgin wife is very low.

5) About 50%(maybe less or more) of the student body has a STD or STI.
Example:

Professor: Hi, How are you today?

Student: I'm in college I dont want to grow up. Wa, Wa, Wa, you can not make me! I want to party and have fun and never grow up. I want to be a kid forever. I do not want to go to class, I want to get drunk. I'm not a loser, you are. Ha, Ha, Ha, na, na, boo, boo.

Professor: Well, that explains why you are at Texas State University instead of UT.
