The act of sympathizing with someone who is complaining about one of their relationships (e.g. their boyfriend, girlfriend, your mutual boss) with the express interest of benefiting themselves

-Finding out that your best friend is listening to your girlfriend talk about all her problems with you, then telling her about how much better he would treat her if they were together.
