A fairly ordinary english person with an uneven suntan on her or his ankles caused by wearing socks while out in the sun.

Juno Temple interview published the Guardian on 23rd June 2012 where she describes a nude movie scene she played in the film Killer Joe with Matthew McConaughey:

"And he gets to keep his kit on and I'm like a fucking English yam with a sock tan."

sock tango 

Invented by Varo Boyajyan and Sarah Augustine in San Diego at the 1908 tango festival. Sock tango is when you take of your shoes and dance tango in your socks :)

a tan line around the ankle and lower leg resulting from sun exposure while wearing socks.

When I got back from summer camp I had this horrible socktan. I wish I hadn't been wearing knee-highs!
