By far the best psychological horror game of all time. Their may never be another game that can top it.
Not even horror games nowadays such as Manhunt or The Suffering can compare to that brilliant game on PSOne.
Silent Hill was the first game that had a very complicated and complex story with in depth characters that left gamers in a state of disbelief as the credits rolled. It was dark, depressing, creepy and all around revolutionary.
The only two games that I believe have even come close to the perfection of Silent Hill is Fatal Frame (PS2/XBOX) and Silent Hill 2 (PS2/XBOX). But Silent Hill is still superior when it comes to plot.
If you haven't played it, then you are missing out. You may not be able to appreciate it for what it is at first since the graphics and voice acting is outdated. But it is still worth experiencing.

When something is so funny, or you are in a state of such slap happiness, that regular laughter transforms into an almost silent and uncontrollable activity. Usually accompanied by tears, silent laughter is most likely the best kind of laughter. You have to make a conscious effort to remember to breathe as your lungs lose air fast in the process of silent laughing. Your ribs start to ache and you begin to wonder if you'll be physically able to take a deep breath before resorting to more silent laughter. Friends and family may laugh at you in this state, or they may be joining in right next to you. Concerned strangers will stare at you and seriously consider finding you help, or they may just hide you from their children.
After I mentioned an inside joke, I looked over to my friend who was doubled over with silent laughter.

Most mentally/physically/emotionally disturbing psychological horror game series ever. Designed to exploit basic inner fears of the average person, potentially giving major long-lasting nightmares.
Definitely not for those weak of mind nor children, the games have a warning screen about the extremely violent graphic and disturbing scenes.
