Similar to schadenfreude (shameful joy or pleasure at another's misfortune - German), schadenessen is shameful eating, or eating in an embarrassing way best kept hidden from view. Also can mean guilty eating.
Eating a messy sandwich out of public view to hide embarrassment is schadenessen, or eating take away (take-out) food in a restaurant car park (parking lot) is schadenessen.
