Reductio al Gore

Reductio al Gore is the argument tactic of dismissing all the science and evidence in support of man's contribution to climate change by invoking the name of Al Gore. It is a type of logical fallacy.
"I don't care that 97% of climate scientists support climate change because Al Gore makes money and I don't like Al Gore. Therefore, climate change is a hoax."

"Is that the best you can do? You don't have evidence, just a Reductio al Gore."

Reductio ad Absurdum

A process of making something stupid because that is what Google says it is.

For Example: If you put “Reductio ad Absurdum” into Google Translate it detects the language as Latin, and translates it to English as: “Reductio ad Absurdum.”

Another Example: For years (through May 29, 2018 at least) if you ask Google "What does it mean to be an American?" it responds with this as the first answer (in a box even):

"It means that I can say "The Pledge of Allegiance" and that I can vote for the President, my county clerk, and the Mayor. But to me it means most of all to be free and to be proud that I live in the United States of America here in Wisconsin."

Dig deeper and you'll find it is written by an 10-year-old who, in addition to thinking that the U. S. is in Wisconsin, does not know that to be an American means she is free to NOT say the pledge and that she has 10 years to go before she can vote.

Thank you Google for establishing a 10-year-old as the #1 expert on what it means to be a patriot. Way to go.
If we're going to Make America Great Again we've got to stop all this Reductio ad Absurdum going on.

Reductio ad Hitlerum

Type of propaganda, typically goes something like "Hitler supported X, therefore X must be bad"

A lazy way of logic
"You know who else had Anti-Smoking laws? Hmm, oh who was it... oh yeah, HITLER!"

Reductio ad BigBirdum

That's what happens every time there's a discussion about defunding PBS. It always quickly heads to "What about Sesame Street and Big Bird? The children!"
"Here we go. Linda started talking about defunding PBS. I give it five minutes until we get to reductio ad BigBirdum."

Reductio Ad Absurdum

Reductio Ad Absurdum (Latin for "reduction to absurdity") is a logical argument that refutes a statement by proving that the premise would lead to a logically absurd and ridiculous conclusion.

Another great phrase to use against flat-earthers and other conspiracy nutjobs alike.
Flat-earther: THE EARTH IS FLAT!!!!

Me, an intellectual: Oh yeah, then explain how nobody has ever fallen off the edge of the earth. Reductio Ad Absurdum.

Reductio ad Obamaum

Assigning blame to President [Obama] regardless of the context. Reducing every discussion to a debate on whether Obama is good or evil. Relating everything back to whether or not Obama is a good President.
Did you hear about that guy that was killed by the plane coming in for a crash landing? I bet if Obama hadn't changed all the FAA laws it never would have happened.

Dude. Stop hating..enough with the Reductio ad Obamaum. Not everything that happens is related to your dislike of Obama.

Reductio ad porno

Any discussion or argument about an actress that terminates with someone saying, 'Yeah, she's a beautiful woman but if I wanted empty titillation from a movie I'd just watch pornography... Uh, I mean more pornography.'
Martin: Oh come on, you don't think Marilyn Monroe was beautiful?

Lewis: Of course I do but once you've actually had sex, there's very little watching a fully clothed woman can do for you. Reductio ad porno.
