Similar to a rebound, but occurs before the relationship has actually ended.
"Dude, I don't just want to be a rebound"

"Don't worry man, you started doing stuff before she got dumped, it's totally a prebound"

The term given to an ex girlfriend/boyfriend that you thought was serious until someone better comes along that is actually worth your time.
Lauren: "Jill, you just got over a relationship and are now dating someone new? You are totally Rebounding!"

Jill: "Umm no.. my ex was a total prebound. I needed it to figure out what it is I REALLY want in a relationship. Just to pass the time. The one im dating right now is much more serious and waaay better!"
