It comes from the Greek πολυμαθής, polymathēs, "having learned much" and describes a person who has expertise in a large number of different subjects, but more importantly, they are able to draw on this knowledge to solve problems. Science fiction author Robert Heinlein believed that everyone should attempt to be a polymath and that specialisation was for insects.

Leonardo DaVinci is one of the world's most recognizable polymathic people.
A unique and talented individual who displays exceptional skill or expertise in many areas. Talent is mostly shown in the arts, but polymaths have been known to display gifts outside of this area, such as the sciences, etc. Polymaths are also largely individual and commonly self-taught.

n. The act of having many gods you do not believe in.

A term used by atheists to point out the fact that basically everyone on earth is an atheist to some extent. Nobody on Earth believes in every god, therefore everyone is an atheist.
