Derived from "oh no" in an uncultured accent. If something is 'onyay' it is without class or is unsophisticated whilst purporting to be upper-class or sophisticated.
"Her hair cut is so onyay" used for example, if someone attampts to follow current fashions without success. eg a 1980's cripm
