Nine Inch Nails is a industrial rock band founded in 1988 in Ohio.Nine Inch Nails often uses "NIN" for abbreviation,which the last N is backwards.Trent Reznor is the only official member of Nine Inch Nails and is responsible for producing,singing,writing,and playing the instruments.He hires a live band after he completes the music.In the beginning he was a janitor and assistant engineer at a music studio,he recorded some demos with extra time left over.NIN's first album was successful due to the tracks: "Head like a Hole"and "Sin." In 1994,the album "The Downward Spiral" was released and a lot of songs were hits like "Closer","March of the Pigs",and "Hurt." The music video for "Closer" was really popular and was also edited because of the graphic content.In 2005,NIN released the album,"With Teeth" the songs "The Hand that feeds" and "Only" were popular hits,they made a music video for "Only" which was regular rotation video on MTV. In 2008,NIN released a album called "The Slip",online with their website without any advertisement or any promotion.NIN has sold over 20 million albums worldwide and 10 million alone in the America.Most NIN songs became popular radio songs in the 1990s through 2000s.Trent Reznor was on a list for Time magazine's most influential people in 1997.

Industrial rock band formed in Ohio in 1988 by singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Michael Trent Renznor, who is the only permanent and principle member. he uses various backing bands on tours. NIN are a very good band.

Post-industrial band founded in the 80's consisting of writer/vocalist/mandolin/saxophone/guitar/tamborine/synth/drum machine/sampler/laptop/tuba/accordion/xylophone/white noise and vuvuzela player Trent Reznor and through most of its live lifespan guitarist Robin Finck. Other notable personnel include Alessandro Cortini, Aaron North, Danny Lohner aka Renholdër, Atticus Ross, Ilan Rubin, Josh Freese, Chris Vrenna, Flood, Dave Grohl, Jeordie White aka Twiggy Ramirez, Charlie Clouser, Richard Patrick, Jerome Dillon, Justin Meldal-Johnsen, and others.
Genre is Industrial Rock and Industrial Metal. Very layered pseudo-EBM/Rock hybrid most of the time throughout the peak of its popularity, more of an alternative rock feel since With Teeth, excluding Year Zero, which was mostly glitch and Ghosts I-IV, which is broadly ambient. NIN is profanity and angst ridden almost all the time, so much so that it has been known for its angst (which can be either a good thing or a bad thing depending on your tastes). Started out with a (particularly dark) synthpop album much like Ministry, one of Trent's big influences along with Skinny Puppy, Gary Numan, Soft Cell, Throbbing Gristle, David Bowie and Pink Floyd to name a handful.
Pretty good. Nice amount of varied sound throughout the whole discography and one of the more abrasive sounding artists in modern rock music.
