The Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood Rule

The Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood Rule — This rule is similar to The Slipping into Darkness Rule. If you hear any version of the song Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood in a movie, television show, or documentary, it is pointing to an individual in deep thought and torn between two worlds.

Examples of this song being used include:

The Gifted season 1 episode 1
Nobody
Oz season 1 episode 8
Luther season 1 episode 6
Aquarius season 1 episode 13
Snowfall season 1 episode 1
Training Day season 1 episode 12 Part 1
What Happened to Miss Simone
Titans season 3 episode 7
The Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood Rule applies to the use of a version of the song — either The Animals version or the Nina Simone version — used in a television show, documentary, or a movie to portray the protagonist as struggling and being caught between two worlds.

I am you, I am just like you. That’s why I was attached to you. I wanted to give you happiness. I’m sorry I misunderstood your happiness.

When somebody says “ Everything is simply a shape, a form, an identifier to let others recognize me as me! But then, what am I? Is this me? My true self? My fake self? What is it that I am? Nobody understands me!” You just go “ I am you, I am just like you. That’s why I was attached to you. I wanted to give you happiness. I’m sorry I misunderstood your happiness.”

Misunderstanding

If you don't know where you stand with somebody, I'd say your moral compass isn't the only one that needs repairs.
Alan- I don't know where I stand with you boss.
Dave- The same place you were standing a minute ago Alan, you're standing directly in front of me, so until you choose a new set of coordinates that is where you stand with me. What is the misunderstanding here?

Misguided Directicisms

Used to explain somebodies complete lack of accuracy whether in physical sports or in their views and opinions
That guy totally has misguided directicisms

misunderheard

when an individual fails to correctly hear what another individual has said.
I must have misuderheard what you said because I thought you said "I love you" but you really said "I loathe you."

misunderestimated

1. Doofimizm used only by fully edgymicated presidents when their teleprompters are busted or they are feeling kinda smart or when they wants to show all them handlers at the white house just who's really in charge around here.
I must have misunderestimated all them nuculer bombs and them weapons of mass disappearance in that there eye rack.

Misundertelephobia

The irrational fear of being misunderstood when speaking over the phone as opposed to in person. Usually coincides with the inability to display hand movements and gestures, leading inevitably to misinterpretation.
I was speaking to Sam the other day, and I said something which he took completely the wrong way. If only we'd been speaking in person, damnit! Total misundertelephobia!
