A con-job that requires a certain amount of effort and as a namesake, is usually in it for the long haul. Gaining someone's trust for a number of months and then when the stake is in your court and you have their complete trust--taking advantage of it. Usually denotes relationship status or high-level business partnerships.

(n) The long con refers to the process of simultaneously advertising and gassing up the tik tok account of a hot girl you know in the hopes that one of her videos will go viral. In the ensuing months (if all goes according to plan), said girl will chase the ever-fleeting sensation of fame by dressing and dancing skankier in her “toks,” providing the “long con-artist” a continuous stream for his spank bank.
Jimmy: “Dude. Why tf do you have 3 fake TikTok accounts commenting ‘fyp’ and ‘work it girl’ on every one of Meredith’s posts??”
Brendan: “The long con, my friend. You’ll thank me in June.”

An ambitious alternative to the short con. The mark is money rich and a bit less gullible than a short con mark. It's risky and takes experience running con games. Up front bait cash and a seasoned crew are often necessary. Be ready to walk away because the stakes are high. Called the long white con because it takes a long lead time to earn the mark's trust and it is a playing field traditionally reserved for white folks, although that is no longer the case. Popularized by novelist Iceberg Slim.
