Condescending explanations of phenomena given by linguists or college graduates with half-baked understanding of linguistics. Lingsplainations usually affect a high degree of irritation in their recipients and result in re-purposing of books by Derrida, Foucault, etc. as toilet paper.
I was confused by the situation until at last it was lingsplained to me. Now I feel relieved ... and want to ram my head into a tree.
