Lake Forest is a large town on the North Shore. Many people who live in this town think they are the richest on the North Shore, and cannot accept the fact that they are obviously not. I live on the North Shore, and I have definitely seen the town of Lake Forest, the residents, the stores, and the homes. I know for a fact that it is NOT the richest town on the North Shore, let alone the richest town in the country. In fact, Lake Forest is the 3rd richest town on the North Shore, not the 3rd richest town in the country. Kenilworth and Winnetka rank higher for various reasons. Lake Forest people generally forget to acknowledge the fact that New Trier (which is where most kids on the North Shore go to high school) is ranked MUCH higher than Lake Forest Academy, and the sad fact that Lake Forest is about a half-hour farther from the city, which is where many people on the North Shore work and/or shop.
Don't get me wrong, a lot of Lake Forest is rich, but a lot of Lake Forest is middle class, also. I don’t know why people in Lake Forest try to rub it in people's faces that they live on the North Shore. It really isn't that big of a deal, but they seem to want to let everybody think that they are ridiculously rich, when in reality; Lake Forest is NOT that fabulous.
So next time you read one of those false definitions about Lake Forest, or the North Shore (written by residents of Lake Forest) remember all of the true facts you have just read about.

Lake Forest is a wealthy suburb of Chicago situated about 30 miles to the north, directly on the lake. A largely old-money suburb, its residents are widely rumored to be conservative, narrow-minded, racist, homophobic, and antisemitic. While there are examples of such attitudes, especially among the older generations, most residents are comparatively down to earth and accepting of cultural, political, and religious differences. Prejudice against new-money suburbs such as Wilmette, Highland Park, and Winnetka, and against the middle and working class is much more prevalent than any animosity towards minorities. There is a level of snobbishness and materialism, but it is rarely accompanied by hatred or bigotry. Some have suggested that while academically outstanding, Lake Forest High School does little to prevent the perpetuation of the elitist and indifferent attitudes of young Lake Foresters, and indeed, allows the few remaining negative aspects of Lake Forest society to flourish. Because of this, many residents of middle and working class communities such as Evanston and Morton Grove as well as new-money wealthy and upper-middle class communities such as parts of Skokie and Lincolnwood are developing more hatred and resentment for Lake Foresters than is really deserved.

The 1st richest city in the world. A suburb north of Chicago, this is one of the best places in the country to live according to the federal government and several almanacs. It has police on every corner, a low crime rate, and very expensive clothing stores, places to shop, grocery stores, etc. To buy a small house in Lake Forest is at least $400,000. Don't plan on living here unless you want to be surrounded by materialistic people who will call you a poser if you wear etnies sweatshirts if you don't skateboard and smoke. This is truely the best city in the Chicago land area, with its low-class rivals, the people from Highlandpark, the druggies from Lake Bluff, Lake Forest is truely the best mix of all cultures, with a wide range of people from sluts to badasses, popular bitches to nerds, and goody goodies to rebels. The amount of people living in lots 8000 sqare feet or larger is almost 80% of the people, the public education teaches children 60% more of what other public schools in the Chicago land area do, although the material is harder and amount of homework is much larger. The most mansion-worthy streets in this wealthy city are Lake Road and Westminster. If you like diversity in races, this is not the place to be. 90% of all the people are white and christian/catholic. Residents here are 20% Greek, 18% German, 6% Swedish, 3% Colombian, 2% Serbian, 12% Mixed, 35% Polish, 4% Other.
When I become famous, I'm going to move to Lake Forest because their residents let the superstars live in peace, probably because their used to being accosiated with fame.

Majority own multiple homes and at least one boat. Their children attend Lake Forest High School, one of the top three best high schools in Illinois. Not to mention one of the filthiest rich schools in the country, even though the whole school consists of about 2,000 very affluent, rich, wealthy, spoiled, BEAUTIFUL kids. For a reference to the outsiders, Lake Forest is the Greenwich or Orange County of the Midwest.

Lake Forest is the name of the Best Town on Chicago's North Shore. With Lake Bluff as its Canada and Highwood as its Mexico, Lake Forest forms a utopian microcosm of the United States. Or, at least, how an ideal United States WOULD be if we got rid of all the minorities, the poor, the curly-haired hippy liberals, etc. Lake Forest is proudly white, proudly Christian, proudly conservative, and largely Republican. Lake Forest is largely Upper Middle Class, with a few really rich people living in mansions down at the lakeshore. Unlike the other towns on the North Shore, whose affluence comes from being professionals, which are filled with professors and journalists and artists and lawyers and doctors...Lake Forest gets its affluence from businessmen and bankers. As such, ours is a happy family-values aristocratic affluence, unlike the existentially angsty liberal intellectualite "affluence" of the "New Trier Suburbs". Our people are SMART, not "intellectual". Religious, not "spiritual". And truly have class, not "culture". In other words, we're the real deal. Happy, friendly, safe. Not poser bohemians like the other North Shore towns. And we ARE better looking than most places. And look and dress more NORMALLY. Those New Trier boys with their long curly hair should visit a barber. Looks like dirty pubes on their head. Get a haircut! We are down-to-earth people who get things done and don't take any crap. Things here have to look nice and be non-offensive. We don't want the angsty overachievment of the New Trier kids of parents who can't get over the 70's. We have less venereal disease than New Trier, and less atheist scum. We are not snobs, just proud. It's the myth of intellectualism in the "New Trier Suburbs" that is snobby. We're just regular Americans, down to earth people who just happened to succeed in business, and decided to use it to build a safe and beautiful town with good schools for the kids to grow up in. As such, we don't much care for the rest of the North Shore's angsty constant-rebellion identity crises.

Lake Forest is a place that looks nice. The people are full of themselves and a version of "hood rich" exists here that has never been seen before and that there is no word for because it was probably bought, destroyed, and never released. You will hear the stupidest, most socially inept things come from peoples mouths here, with no excuse for it because these are supposedly smart educated people that think they know about the world but can't figure out simple things around them. And for all the money they have they are never satisfied or happy. They hide their dirt, give each other control, awards, connections, status, information, and expect "people" to be impressed and they are... because they don't know any better and neither do they.

College Kid:Mommy, I hate College there are so many "people" here, I don't like what I'm studying, and this place smells.
The Mom:Don't worry my little prince/princess you can come work for your families company and we'll pay you alot and give you a good title.
College Kid:Oh thank God, I almost thought I might have to work, gather experience, and actually make something of myself.
