Ha·thos \ˈhā-ˌthōs\ (noun). Ha·thet·ic \hā-ˈthe-tik\ (adj). Coined by Alex Heard in 1987. Meaning: something so unpleasant you can't help but be riveted by it, for example, Bill O'Reilly, Pat Robertson, Rebecca Black, the Westboro Baptist Church, and the smell of one's own farts.
