A combination of the words "meretricious" (having the characteristics of a prostitute) and "vixen" (a malicious, fierce-tempered woman). Used to describe any rude woman of loose morals. It sounds much more scholarly than just saying "skank". "I say, Thadeus, I was quite bibulous at the local tavern when that meretrixen approached me. She slurred about how handsome I was, then became scarlet with rage when I refused to buy her further potations."
