Ameriker

How most english people refer to the USA. Frequently heard on BBC radio.

Originated in the 18th century when english impearialists were refering to their american possessions, most of which were in what would later become the USA.
Then the 13 colonies got independence, british possessions were limited to the Hudson Bay Company and Atlantic provinces of Canada (Newfoundland and what had been Acadia under the French) as well as a few islands in the West Indies. Since then Ameriker has been the way the English refer to the first land to break away from the British Empire.

AmeriCorpse

Thinking you're going to get great job experience between your BA and Masters by joining AmeriCorps, but finding out you've been used for mindless data entry by non-profits (due to cheapness of hiring ameriCorps members)...leading to a slow painful death of boredom and misery. Or zombie-like appearance due to the death of idealism.

Noun: AmeriCorpse
Verb: AmeriCorpsed
Man, I thought I'd get experience with grant-writing but I've been doing menial data-entry!

Dude, you just got AmeriCorpsed!

What?

You're an AmeriCorpse. Dead to them. You're lower than "intern."

Oh my god you're right.

Americornization

The process by which foreigners living in the US find their tolerance for cornyness significantly increased, i.e. by getting teary-eyed when watching a presidential address, developing a need to cry and tell your friends you love them on a daily basis, or by getting strongly emotionally involved in the Chris Brown/Rihanna affair.
Terry: Wow, did you see that exchange student tear up while Obama talked about the whispers of the dead soldiers in Arlington?

Jane: I know, it didn't take long for Americornization to kick in
