To take the temperature of something (verb).
Because-
To determine the weight of something= weigh it
To determine the length of something= measure it
To determine the temperature of something is too long and needs its own word (therm)

Derived from the word thermometer, in case you were too stupid to figure that out.

Will: Yo man take the temperature of that water so we can finish this damn science lab and get outta here.
Chris: You mean therm the water? It sounds much sexier.
