An exceptionally extreme form of fear. The worst kind of fear a person can have of someone or something. The type of fear that basically can cause a person to flee like mad when someone is nearby, even when the person is harmless, and even there is even nothing and nobody in pursuit, and also causes irrational thinking and a lack of reasoning.

The type of fear in which even the sound of a windblown leaf sends a person fleeing like mad, as if fleeing from the gun, to where it can cause injury to anyone in the person's way.
