A stubborn view that things you use/are used to are better than anyone else's, just because you use/are used to them. Regardless that the other options may be objectively equal or better, a shymonistic person always fights for their thing, usually without providing any valid arguments.
European: How can you possibly drive on the left side of the road? That's so stupid, driving on the right side of the road makes much more sense.
Brit: How does it make more sense? There's no better driving side, just two options...
European: Well, then our option is better. Driving on the left side is weird. Everyone should drive on the right side, that's normal.
Brit: Quit the shymonism and say some real arguments.
