Pit Monkey 

Describes one who lives up north; especially if they come from an old mining town. Monkey being a term for someone who does a repetetive job... for example, a CAD monkey works at a computer all day drwing pictures.

One whose ancestors may have worked down the pits... monkey of the pit... 'Pit Monkey'.
