Overcampensating 

Describes a type of behaviour exhibited by (often) gay men. especially in the period shortly after "coming out" where they are excessively camp. their actions are more flamboyant, their voice more sibilant and higher pitched, their mannerisms more feminine.
This term was first coined in the Musical "It's a real drag" by Steve Kelleher-Brown

In a desparate bid to attract the attention of anyone in the bar who might be looking for an available boy that evening, James began overcampensating again much to the annoyance of his friends who were trying to have a quiet drink.

"Alex, stop overcampensating, we all know you're gay now"

Overcupensating 

When you get a larger beer/drink than what you need, or perhaps even want. The bigger the drink, the cooler the guy/girl... That's the mentality that leads to overcupensating.

Freddie had to go one step further, a 20oz draft of Crap Lite wasn't enough.... He got the 28oz. He's definitely overcupensating.
