An argumentative tactic employed by people to distract from a current, relevant arguement by bringing up something unrelated and indefensible in order to avoid losing.

'Yes well, it doesn't matter anyway because you smoke!'
'What has that got to do with anything? I've always smoked!'
'Well it's really bad. And rude.'
'This is such a nonument, why are you talking about smoking, you slept with my brother!'
