this is a response to definitions # 16 and 17 for john lennon.
you are an idiot and im sorry your posts were admitted.
John Lennon was one of the most amazing people alive ever, not just because of his amazing ability to write music, but because of his views on the world (so true, listen to imagine, im being a stereotype but jeez) Lennon promoted peace, and everyones right to do what they wanted to do, and speak freely. he had some great ideas on how people should try and make the world a better place (which still aint happening sorry to say) so i dont know where you two get off saying this stuff about him of all people, for invalid reasons...Lennons music wasnt about selling out and being popular, it was about the message if anything, buy the very best of john lennon and dont just listen to it on your way to work while you chug back a mocha latte frappe swankaccino from starbucks, actually listen to it and listen to the lyrics, and see if u can get it, and he wasnt the personification of love and peace or whatever it was, he was a guy who (oh god forbid) wanted open love, peace, and he sang about his ideas, and anything else he felt like, and it was great, so before you go off slamming great people and saying he is only loved because he was murdered, why dont you look at him a bit more before the murder and appreciate it. and as for his comment regarding the beatles being bigger than jesus, john lennon had a sense of humor, he wasnt wound uptight enough to make a big deal out of everything, and who knew if christianity would have lived, he was just speculating.
but hey, im all for opinions, so if you wanna go on hating good people, calling them self righteous arse holes, no ones stopping you.

John Lennon was the main member of the beatles and co-wrote many of the greatest songs of the centrury with Paul MacCartney. During the 50s, he mainly wrote of love, but as the 60s wore on, he became an LSD junkie with the other Bealtes. After that, most of his songs were about drugs, "seeing beyond your stuff" and sublimal messages about how stupid the government is. After his murder in 1980, he's now revered as a musical God.

Someone we have been forced to call great and talented because he got popped off by some loony and now we are forced to swallow what a great guy he apparently was and how he was the creative force of the Beatles when in reality he was a washed-out hypocrite who only ever succeeded because he rided on Paul McCartney's talents. My friend says he is the human form of love and peace. Yes that's why he abandoned his friends while remaining bitter, twisted and childish about the whole Beatle business. Whole lotta love and peace there...err not. Once you've heard one Lennon song, you've heard them all.
We need to stop thinking John Lennon is a "legend" and accept him for what he really was - a stupid arsehole.
