EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) is a method of psychotherapy that is best known for it's use of eye movement. It has been shown to be effective in numerous research studies, primarily for PTSD post traumatic stress disorder. The approach is more sophisticated than the impression you get when it is called "finger waving" or is referred to as a recovered memory therapy (inaccurate), or as a form of energy therapy or hypnosis.
Discouraged by six months of conventional psychotherapy, Baumgartner turned last August to a treatment called EMDR, or "eye-movement desensitization and reprocessing."
