D17

The 1.7 litre displacement motor found in most 7th Generation Honda Civics (2001-2005). D17s come in both Vtec and non Vtec variety. The Vtec version had variable valve timing only on the intake valves because of the engines single cam design. Upgrades to this motor are somewhat limited and the connecting rods are considered the weakest part of this motor.

2001 thru 2005 Civics come with a D17 engine.
