wizard who performs magic or an arcanist who channels it, an arcanologist focuses on the physics of magic by analyzing ancient artifacts, ley lines, and the historical development of spells through a scientific lens.

box. In a literal sense, it refers to knowledge "hidden in a
box" away from the uninitiated.
