Essentially, a society without government or any other form of central leadership.

Theoretically, along with Communism, an Anarchy is a society in which all members live freely and peacefully with one another.

Realistically, humans are generally selfish beings and are not content with being on a level plane with everyone else; thus Anarchies and Communisms rarely work out as planned.
A boy in my History class once told me that Communism was the form of government in Heaven.

At first I took his word for it, but, after a little bit of research, I discovered that, under the assumption that Heaven presents the epitome of happiness, Anarchy is a better fit. As long as all members are content with being equal, they will regulate themselves and restrictions will not be required.

A plausible social system involving no government, and no hierarchy. Society is a collection of non-hierarchical groups of people voluntarily cooperating. With the internet complex deals between groups could be made more efficient in a short period of time.
Many people say anarchy will never work. But if you think about it if man's nature is inherently corrupt why trust man to rule over man? It would be better to have a society with a general understanding that using force or coercion against somebody who isn't threatening your person is always unjustified. Any struggle to achieve an anarchist society would essentially involve education about how the new society would function, so the goal of creating a society with this common ethical understanding would definitely be achieved if an anarchist struggle ever succeeded. And government is basically the institution that has a general monopoly on force in a given territory. It doesn't hold up to reason that force used in a given circumstance would be right for the government, but wrong for an individual or private group.

Theres a real simple definition of the term anarchy that everyone seems to lack an understanding of;or aleast the majority of people defining the word on this site. Its pretty obvious that all anarchy can ever really be (unless the world started over) is an idea, a dream or a belief system that selfish, capitolistic and murdering fools were not able to run shit. Reason being, the government is too powerful and too witty to ever overthrow.

Its obvious that a true anarchist wants to be peaceful, but you just cant get what you want without strength in numbers, money, and power. O and the abilty to kill, torture, or incarcerate anyone who disagrees with you. Thats what the government has. HOW BOUT YOU!

And the reason theres misguided youths running around wearing black and causing mayhem should be crystal. Subconciously, they know somthing is wrong with the way we are governed, unfortunately theres just no one around to sit them down and explain to them the real reasons shits so fucked up. Come on; these kids get lied to on a daily basis on just about everything thats going on around them.and until they get past puberty and have lived a little, they wont understand why they are lashing out, but their time will come, hopefully without the law intervening. Hopefully its on their own terms and realizations. These are actually really smart kids. They just recieve alota wrong information and hidden truths.
Theres literally millions of people that are anarchist and have never even heard the word. I wonder why. why is it that our prisons and jail systems are packed with people of poor communities. Its all about capitolism and oppression. The only way to fight the system is with your mind. You cant take action agaisnt anything as powerful as a goverment. Hence my definition, notice I said MY DEFINITION, of anarchy as being an idea, a concept, nothing more than a dream. Unless you wanted a war. And who wants that?

The well-thought-out philosophy of drawing the letter A with a circle around it on traffic signs, getting all your political information from punk rock songs, and moaning about your conformist parents who won't let you go skateboarding until you've done the dishes. They like, totally don't understand you man because they're just cogs in the corporate machine and you're so original and against conformity with your trucker hat, studded belt and ripped girl's jeans. I bet they just believe everything they hear on Fox News. They should listen to more NOFX instead. Fuckin' dad!

Oh yeah, property is theft and as long as there are employers we will never be free. Down with capitalism....and stuff.

Yeah, man. You're deep. Rage on.
Anarchy is the dream of many rich, male, spoiled white kids from the safe, secure suburbs (in other words, the core demograph of punk rock fans).

The Anarchist was dumbfounded when his teacher told him that she wanted more credible sources of information than Dropkick Murphys and Bad Religion lyrics for his term paper explaining what anarchy is.

1. An idea misinterpreted by "punks" to mean chaos and a complete lack of structure in society.

2. A society with no government in which people work cooperatively to thrive. The ideal of communism. Theoretically, this is completely possible - as long as people in a society are not conditioned to crave power, everyone can work together at the same level in peace.
1. ANARCHY IS COOL!!! (probably knows nothing about the true meaning of anarchy...)

2. Anarchy, or something very close to it, exists in hunting-gathering societies. It cannot exist in today's advanced, industrial societies because people in these societies are conditioned to crave power and money. However, if we started things all over from the beginning and really tried to make a collective, anarchist system work, it could, in theory, last forever.
