Yes, I actually grew up in a Los Angeles suburb (Palos Verdes), and spent roughly 23 years in various parts of the collective LA area. Here's what it breaks down to:

A) Countless suburbs chock full of wiggers, soccer moms, dope smokers, hippies, etc.

B) The downtown area, with its "business district" (Don't make me go down there and eat your lunch) -- some of the softest people I've seen in my life. The eight hour workday is the norm here, any more and you're a "greedy, selfish sonofabitch".

C) Chock-full of illegal aliens who'll try and peddle everything from flowers to belt buckles to narcotics. The police here can't arrest/deport them unless they're actually caught commiting a crime.

D) Crime is a lot worse than the media would like you to believe. Basically, the jail system is so overcrowded you'll get released immediately after being arrested (and never show up to trial), or serve a couple days in the county jail system. It's a true revolving door.

E) Getting around is an absolute JOKE. You have to drive to get anything accomplished. Public transportation is not a viable option here. You will spend two+ hours to drive 20 miles on the freeway. Roads and highways are poorly maintained, READ: potholes galore.

F) This whole town is built on perceptions -- everyone is pretending to be something they're not. Image is everything in LA. You have countless stuck-up women/whores, "entrepreneurs", people living at home with daddy's credit card, etc. Very little substance, plenty of superficial people.

G) The city, overall, moves VERY slow. The entire state is VERY liberal. People in Los Angeles don't accomplish anything; they're too busy taking their poodle to get groomed, attending the latest illegal alien rights protest, etc. Wasting time here is the norm.

H) Yes, there are beaches. Yes, the climate is fairly warm most of the time. However, countless times during the year, beaches are closed due to pollution. Smoking is banned at public beaches. The sky is brown due to pollution.

I) Hollywood is chock-full of transexuals, gays, drug addicts, bums, and other undesirables. HIV+ capital of the world (outside of San Francisco).

J) There is plenty of racial tension, gang wars, violence, etc. LA is home to some of the worst slums in the nation.

K) The "educational" system is more baby sitting rather than learning. Schools are underfunded, everyone passes classes regarless of merit, and riots/violence occurs on a daily basis.

L) Real estate prices are through the roof (2005) -- even mediocre housing in a low-income area will cost in excess of $500,000. Shelter is approaching and even surpassing Manhattan in many areas.

OK, so there are some attactions: Disneyland, the beaches, and Hollywood. Aside from that, there's really nothing more to see in Los Angeles. It's an OK place to visit for a couple days. Trust me, it gets old.

If you're considering moving here to "become famous", or "make it big", take a number and get in line. Everyone here is trying to accomplish the same thing, yet nobody actually puts any effort into achieving their goals.

LA is a shithole, always has been, and will continue on its downtrend.

My advice? STAY AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE!
Joe: I make $150k/hour, worked at 300 companies, drive a Rolls Royce, and have a ten foot dick.

Mike: No way! I'm moving to Los Angeles so I can be like you! You were working at McDonalds yesterday!

Vato Loco: Hey holmes, lets go blast on them niggas in tha 'hood. Pinche motherfuckers are movin' into our territory

Vato Loco #2: Chale ese, mi familia (all 500 of 'em) are creepin' across the border tonight. I gotta smoke some dope anyways. VIVA LA RAZA!

Guy: Lets go grab some dinner.

Girl: Like, no way you fucking looser, I only date guys who are movie stars, and like, have ten foot dicks, like Joe. Forget the fact I, like, screw losers -- I'm going to be a, like, complete bitch 'cause I'm like, you know, a LA GIRL!!!

Dude #1: Yah, you know bro, yeah, I have this CRAZY business idea bro, uh huh, we're going to make a gazillion bucks!

Dude #2: So what's your plan?

Dude #1: Uhmm, well, lemmy smoke some more weed, and like, it'll all work out or something. DUDE! Is Cheech and Chong on?

Black Man #1: I finna go get me sum of dat gub'mint cheeze, mah nizzle! Time tah hit da County Line for some GR/Welfare!

Black Man #2: Fo' shizzle mah nizzle, when we get paper'd up, lets hit some of dem white blone biznatches!

Wigger: Repeat above.

Liberal/soccer mom: Oh heavens! Such vulgarities! I'm reporting you mister at the next PTA meeting! I'm going to start a protest in front of City Hall to stop your profanity!

Many people seem to be confused about the layout of the city of Los Angeles and think that it is just made of a billion suburbs. Los Angeles County is the most populous county in the United States. The county seat is the city of Los Angeles, which is the second largest city in the US. Other cities in the county include Long Beach, Glendale, Pasadena, Compton, etc. These cities are much smaller than Los Angeles, but they're interesting. In these cities you'll find attractions such as parks, museums, beaches, and much more.
People often think that the cities which surround Los Angeles are part of the city, when they are actually all part of Los Angeles County.

The dreamy beach city. Home of crackheads, baby cockroaches, traffic jams, rich assholes, and disappointment. It’s cheaper to live in Tokyo than in LA and that’s saying something.
Person: Dude I wonder what Los Angeles is like.

Person 2: don’t go there, I found a blunt in my hotel closet, a tour guide overcharged me and there was meth in his tour bus.

A west Coast City in the state of California that sit almost directly on the San Andreas Fault. One day we will all be rescued from the bad films, annoying celebrities, violent gansters, and smog that this city houses, when a large earthquake will eventually bring the collection of suburbs to its knees. The hollywood hills will turn into a lanslide of the rich and famous.
You silly buggers should have found somewhere smarter to live.

One of the best places to live, people who visit don't understand the city and often have differnt opinions. There is so much diversity so racist may not want to live here or visit, plus we dont want you here go back to georgia, but if your cool with mexicans, asians, blacks, whites, and ect... you shouldn't have a problem fitting in.

Los angeles is the most important city in the west, with out L.A. All of the South West would be screwd. Los angeles has the greatest amount of rail that connects the entire United states, so all you arizonins driving your Honda Civics remember all those cars came from the ShipYards from Los Angeles and Long Beach and were railed to your shity desert.

Apart from being always related to movies and T.v. Los Angeles is the economic capital of all the west, there are so many jobs here and once you are old enough to drive legaly there are endless ammount of places you can go to have fun and just relax.

The subway system is still under construction in some areas, but most of the subway has been finished a long time ago. All of which lead to everywhere important. Bad thing is you really need car or you'll be on a train and bus for hrs. GOod news freeways are gonna be renovated and the city is cleaning up both gang related and beautifully.
Development is now rising up like NEW YORK, Tall Apartment buildings are immenint in the Future and even know you can see them develop.

Contrary to popular belief, Los Angeles is one of the most cultured cities in the US and the world.

Los Angeles is a major center for film, television, and recorded music. In fact according to the USC Stevens Institute for Innovation, there are more "artists, writers, filmmakers, actors, dancers and musicians living and working in Los Angeles than any other city at any time in the history of civilization. There are more than 1,100 annual theatrical productions and 21 openings every week."

Los Angeles has the third largest performing arts center in the nation, only behind New York City and Denver. It houses one of the finest orchestras in the world, Los Angeles Philharmonic. It also has houses the Los Angeles Opera, the Los Angeles Master Chorale, and the Center Theater Group.

It also has an amazing contemporary art scence, said to be the best in the world by many top artists. Its premier contemporary art museum MOCA has in a short period of time, amassed one of the finest permanent collections in the country with over 5,000 works or art. In addition, dozens of art galleries have opened up in Downtown and Culver City over the past few years, making Los Angeles a hot city for contemporary art. Just down the street from the Los Angeles Music Center is the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels, the third largest cathedral in the world.

Lastly, according to the USC Stevens Institute for Innovation, Los Angeles "boasts the most museums of any city. There are also numerous art galleries and music, dance, theatre, and film offerings." Los Angeles has some fine museums and cultural institutions like Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), which is the largest encyclopedic musueum west of Chicago, the J. Paul Getty Trust foundation which is the wealthiest art instituion in the country with an endowment of $5.8 billion. It operates the Getty Center, the Getty Villa, the Getty Foundation, the Getty Research Institute, and the Getty Conservation Institute. Also, there's the Griffith Park Observatory, a world leader in astronomy, the Hammer Museum, the Museum of Tolerance, the Japanese American Museum, the Museum of the American West, the Skirball Cultural Center and Museum, etc.
Los Angeles is one of the most cultured cities in the world, something most people fail to realize.
