1) Has an obsession of a certain object, thing, or fad. (Dragonball Z, Baseball, Video game consoles, Yo-yos.
2) One that does not think that his obsession or hobby (if they didn't fit the first one) will make him any real friends or perhaps get him laid.
3) One that defends that obsession beyond all hope and logic. Also, one that cannot back up their statement with anything but flame bait.
4) One that takes his obsession beyond comprehensible levels of sanity.
Lets use all four in context: (Note: I am not a nintendo fanboy or a bush hater. These are hypothetical situations one might observe these things happening)

Guy 1: Well, the gamecube hasn't been doing so well this year....
Fanboy: ZOMG! DID YOU JUST SAY THAT THE GAMECUBE SUCKS?!?!?! YOU SUCK! YOU AND YOUR SONY FANBOYS CAN ALL BURN IN EVERLASTING HELL ALONG WITH GATE'S X-BOX!!!!!
Ex2:
Guy1: Hmm....the president has been doing a lot towards the economic situation....
Guy2: Yeah! Bush sucks balls!
Guy1: I didn't say that...
Guy2: Bush is a stupid idiot.
Guy1: You fanboys should be shot.
4)Fanboy: And you can obviously see that Rikku in FFX-2 is obviously not wearing much in this scene. The humidity from the sun and the build up in the room must be from that. Yeah....also.... (goes on for half a year...)

A fanboy is any male who has exceptional bias to any form of pop culture who believes it's the best person or thing that has ever existed. It becomes the only thing they talk about and becomes a focal point in their lives.

Led Zeppelin fanboy believes they are the greatest band ever and Jimmy Page is the greatest guitarist ever and will fight with, ridicule, and yell out expletives to someone who says Van Halen is the best band ever or Eddie Van Halen is the best guitar player ever. Also, fanboy will not and cannot like Van Halen or Eddie Van Halen because of this and may even lose friendships over it.

Life long Superman fanboy watches Superman Returns for the first time and claims that it's no where near as good as Superman: The Movie was and Brandon Routh is no where near as good as Christopher Reeve was. Someone who worships a company, brand, concept, idea etc... to the point where they will not be capable of listening to statements disagreeing with their view.
The term itself is most commonly used on forums discussing "nerdy" topics.
It is often connected to nostalgia, and also often follows with hardship of argumenting for their own view, seeing as how they haven't had a reason to for themselves.

A person who is a fan of a particular game, brand, band, movie or any part of popular culture to the point where it becomes a way of life for them. Arguing with a fanboy is ultimately futile, as no matter how many well-articulated facts you put to them that may criticize said game, band etc. they will take it as an insult, almost as if you're insulting their child. DO NOT, under any circumstances, engage a fanboy in an intelligent discussion regarding the flaws of their favored hobbies as it will only result in one-sided arguments that you have no chance of winning.
Fanboy: I believe that Halo is one of the most amazing games to grace this earth.
Level-minded individual: Well it's not all that good, certainly not the way you're making it out to be.
Fanboy: How dare you! You're nothing more than a troll to disrespect this work of art. Go back to your cave....
