Some of them might hire prostitutes from sex, but in general terms it symbolizes the will of avoiding women for a certain reason.
Some mgtow participants are heartbroken or just virgins who don't want to socialize.
Another ones are men who tried to become seducers or famous, without success.
Others are men working for a championship, working on developing a great project, etc.
The fact that someone is a mgtow doesn't mean that he hates women, it means that he just wants to take a break. It's been enough. Some of them take this break until death. Others take it just a few years until becoming the very best version of themselves.
Being a mgtow is something that only men who understand female psychology can be a part of.

The term "MGTOW men"(also referred to as "MGTOWs" by other MGTOW men and "MGTOW-ers" by outsiders of the group who often erroneously believe that MGTOW is a movement) stands for "men who adopted the MGTOW lifestyle", i.e. men who have chosen to not be/get married because of the underlying legal structure which treats men unjustly. In other words, to be a MGTOW man, a man must consciously choose to not get married and said choice must come from an analysis of the observable reality of a legal structure which is deemed by him unjust. Said analysis is often called "MGTOW philosophy", as in "the underlying philosophical basis of a MGTOW man".
The "MGTOW community" is an extension of the term "MGTOW man" to identify the whole group of MGTOW men.
A "MGTOW monk" is a MGTOW man who has also decided to minimize interactions with women in general. In an alternative diction, MGTOW monks are said "to be going monk mode". While some members are extremists, this definition is about men who don't think all women are bad but enough bad apples ruin the brunch. If he is respectful, and holds a rational, non extreme view but doesn't want to marry because he fears the chance of losing custody over beloved children, fear of losing his possessions or money, respect his choice.

Men who have done a cost benefit analysis and realized that cohabitating with or marrying modern women is not worth it. Often men who have had negative experiences with women in the past. But could also be men who have taken up the lifestyle due to listening to men who got taken to the cleaners in family court. People try to paint them as INCELS or losers because when women want to focus on themselves they are "strong, independent, and empowered" but society loses its mind when men are not slaves to pussy.
