store where poser goth/punk "music-loving" rich kids shop. if you like music you spend ur money on concert tickets, not an effing $20 t-shirt.
wanna see some REAL anti-conformist punk kids? they are the ones walking out of hot topic with a shitload of stolen merchandise.

Hot Topic is an American chain store that specializes in music-related fashion and merchandise. It caters to a number of youth-oriented subcultures and countercultures, such as punk, goth, club, street and lounge, as well as a number of general and 1980s retro pop culture products.
In most states, Hot topic is the best place (if not the only place) to buy a concert style band tee-shirt for under $20.

A diverse store that has Metal T-Shirts, Nirvana memorabilia, gay pride stickers, clothes w/ sharp stuff sticking out of them, and weird little characters like Happy Bunny and Eve L.
Also frequented by 12-ish year old females that like to express themselves by wearing net-sleeved shirts, black jelly bracelets, and put Happy Bunny patches on their backbacks. Pretty much everyone at my school wears something from there.
Me: Why are you shopping at Hot Topic?
Rebellious Teenage Girl: To piss off my upstanding, Christian parents.

An alternative clothing and music store. Sells band shirts and CD's that don't fit with other stores, but most of which can be found at a local CD store(Though I doubt you'd find any Mindless Self Indulgence or The Missing CD's at Best Buy)
If often called a poseur store because of it's attraction to goth punk or other mainstream subcultures.
Pretty descent prices compared to other stores, but has alot of over-priced junk as well(Chained jeans, jackets and corsets)
A nice store. I go there for shirts, jackets, gloves, and sometimes CD's and pins.
Ooh, these are some cool looking pants.. What? $60 for a pair of chained jeans?! I'll just borrow a pair of my friends for N.E. Gods sake!

Friend 1: I went to Hot Topic this weekend and blew all my money on shirts..
Friend 2: OMG I GOT A PAIR OF PANTS! I'VE BEEN SAVING FOR THREE WEEKS TO GET A PAIR!
Me: I like the clearence isle... I spent $16 dolars on three shirts and a pair of gloves!

An extremely overpriced store in which posers shop. Get this one thing straight... to be gothic is not to wear black or shit like most of you believe.Being gothic is to be different, to laugh at life, You can prefer the darker side, but if you take it seriously you are already full of shit.No two real goths are the same, and usually arent sad people wearing a shirt that says "Ill go cut myself" but are humorous and fun to be around.
Yes, I shop at hot topic.Define shop...I bought an eyebrow barbell there, and a T-shirt at one point. Its not worth making your life based on it though.

A store that is somewhat popular and turns cool things into "fads." Ruins cool animes, movies, and tv shows such as Naruto, Zelda, Full Metal Alchemist, Nightmare Before Christmas, Invader Zim, ect. Basically it just turns everything you like into a fad where everyone thinks its the coolest thing ever and half of them dont know anything about it =)
Maz: Oh, you like invader zim?
Girl with IZ tote bag: oh, yea, hes my favorite character
Maz: Remember that episode where he shrinks and is eaten by Dib?
Girl: Who was dib again?
Maz: ...
----------
Boy: dood, I just bought a nightmare before christmas jacket from hot topic!
Maz: Youve never even seen the movie, have you.
Boy: no

oh my god. you kids need to grow up.

hot topic is a punk/scene/emo apparel store that sells accessories, shoes, music and other odds and ends. the prices are not as expensive as other urban dictionary users are making them out to be. most shirts are $20 and they often have major sales marking down half the store by 25-75%. trust me, ive shopped in both hot topic and abercrombie, a shirt not in clearance is the same price or more. and kids that shop there don't necessarily think that they're being original, but thats the style they like and they cant exactly walk into hollister and get it. its not like american eagle and aeropostle wearers are being original either.
it doesnt really matter whos being original and whos not. people like what they like. stop bashing.
teen: i'm going to run down to hot topic to get some new clothes. I have a rip in my power rangers shirt.
