Lame form of music preferred by young kids who have no clue about real pain but think that dad not buying them an XBOX Elite is the worst thing that ever happened to them.

Fans always wear white socks (well, metal borrowed leather from gay culture so I guess white socks are fair game as well!), poxy caps with straight, up-turned peaks, big holes in their ears, pierced eyebrows and lips, black dyed hair, the same ugly print hooded jackets, shorts, and have lots of coloured tattoos like sXe idiots. They never know anything about the history of the genres that they claim their music comes from (i.e., metal and punk/hardcore). Next year they will love the next lame trend. Most of them were wiggers a few years ago. Vocalist of band always has the same pose, mic grip, and stupid look on his face as the vocalist of any other metalcore band. Always cup the mike for growly bits.
A7X, The Black Dahlia Murder, As I Lay Dying, another lame band with lots of syllables and/or words in their name are all lame-ass metalcore bands

A watered-down form of melodic death metal, due to it's lack of keyboard, less brutal vocals, and overall shorter songs. Listened to by scenester kids, along with deathcore, who are ignorant to it's superior predecessor which originated in Sweden.
I used to listen to metalcore bands like All That Remains, August Burns Red, and As I Lay Dying, but now I listen to bands like Children of Bodom, Dark Tranquillity, and Mors Principium Est.

A subgerne of metal and hardcore that is NOT shit, but is often called shit because a lot of bands don't work to their full potential, and because there are too many bands that are called metalcore and are actually NOT! Real metalcore is usually 70-90% metal and 10-30% hardcore. Fake metalcore is really post hardcore in is often called so because of the existence of a breakdown and screamed vocals! Real metalcore also has guitar solos now and then and often use a low toned type of screaming. Fake metalcore absolutely has no solos and consistently use both screams and death growls, as well as a lot of singing! So next time you here of a metalcore band, compare them to bands like As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, All That Remains, Killswitch Engaged, etc... If they sound like them, it's real metalcore, if they don't, it's not!

Real Metalcore bands: Underoath (Only there first 2 albums) All That Remains, Avenged Sevenfold (Only there first 2 albums), As I Lay Dying, August Burns Red, Killswitch Engaged.

Fake Metalcore Bands: Underoath (Everything else they made after Cries of The Past), Motionless in White, Attack Attack!, Asking Alexandria
Metalcore hater: I think metalcore sucks!
Me: Why?
Metalcore haiter: Beacuse metalcore bands like Asking Alexandria sounds like emos trying to play metal!
Me: (facepalms) Asking Alexandria is NOT metalcore!
Metalcore haiter: Yes they are, it says so on Wikipedia.
Me: (Facepalms again) No they aren't, they are only called so because they have breakdowns in there songs and have screamed vocals. Listen to August Burns Red for an example of what REAL metalcore is!
(All of August Burns Red's discography and some of All That Remains songs later)
Metalcore lover (Formally a metalcore haiter): August Burns Red is the BEST BAND EVER!

shitty excuse for metal music. Formed from a deformed asshole from which NASA had never seen before. Once opened, the shittackular music spewed through the anal leakage which formed shitty bands like as I lay dying and unearth.
-Did you hear that new local band?
-Yeah, they're Metalcore, they might as well have cookie monster for their vocals. It's not like you can call them a singer or a band all together

A subgenre of metal and hardcore that is kind of like communism. If it were to be done correctly, it would be perfect, but hardly anyone can do it right and therefore it is mainly horrible. There are some metalcore bands that I actually enjoy (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Hatebreed, Every Time I Die), but most of it (and certainly the most popular bands) incorporate pop punk, electronic, glam, crunk, and all sorts of other shit and make it sound worse than putting a cat in a blender. Not to mention deathcore, which is just an attempt to make an anti-metalcore genre, is even worse and brings shame to death metal. Another thing that humor's me with most metalcore is the bands claim to be the brutalist shit alive but they dress like a 12 year old scene girl.
Good metalcore: Every Time I Die, TDEP, Hatebreed, All That Remains (sort of), ect.
Bad metalcore: Bring me the Horizon, Of Mice and Men, Asking Alexandria, The Black Dahlia Murder, Chelsea Grin, ect.

The term used to label two musical genres.

1) The fusion of hardcore punk and thrash metal sounding exactly like the sound of it - Integrity or Converge are good examples

2) Extreme metal, usually simplified, with emo clean singing, screamo harsh vocals and an excess of breakdowns which sound nothing like hardcore punk. A fabricated genre aimed at making money and being popular. Why is this called "metalcore" is beyond me.
1) Integrity is a metalcore band and you know why when you listen to it. It takes thrash metal riffs and uses them on hardcore punk drum patterns or vice versa. You know where the "metal" part and the "-core" part came from.

2) Atreyu is a metalcore band. They sound more like nu-metal with chuggy breakdowns. However nobody took his time to understand what exactly the hardcore influences of theirs are - I can certainly hear no breakdowns in my hardcore punk
