Buckwheats is in reference to the Little Rascal character 'Buckwheat whose eye's would get big whenever surprised. In the film 'Things to do in Denver When you're Dead' a Buckwheats hit is a term in reference to killing someone so painfully they would get 'Buckwheats' eyes.
