1)Noun-Singular-One who dedicates their time, effort and own personal financial resources to helping dogs, cats, other companion animals or wildlife in the community.
2) Plural-Humaniacs-Reference to the animal rescue community

Rhonda is a local Humaniac who can't afford to feed herself because she spends all her money on pet food for the animals she rescues.

Whatever you do, don't tell the media how many animals we euthanize in a years time-the Humaniacs will go nuts and start calling the Mayor.

Not to be mistaken with bestiality, where as a human has sexual relation with an animal.
