In many countries of Latin American, green iguanas are nicknamed "gallinas de palo", which means "tree chicken". They are caught or raised and their meat is used for cooking. The taste and feel of the cooked iguana is said to be similar to chicken. In Puerto Rico, local Chinese restaurants have been known to substitute chicken for iguanas without their customers knowledge.

Refers to the danger of moose along the roadway or elsewhere that are big and heavy that hitting them is like hitting trees. Also, like chickens, they are unintelligent and likey to jump in any direction unpredictably at any moment.

First used in 2018 by Browless Seth from the band Totally Overrated Sellouts during his stay in Alaska.
Slow down when driving in Alaska if you see a tree chicken, because it might jump out in front of you and smash you right dead.
