When Discord is down, and every user who was active or planning to be within that moment floods into separate chatting apps and Twitter in order to alert others, make memes, and continue conversations.
Discord is down, let the Discord Displacement begin.

When a meme is posted and becomes popular, there is a sudden surge of this kind of meme across the more populated areas of the web.

Stage 1 of the surge is the start: often memes will start on Twitter, Instagram, and Reddit. Twitter and Reddit often have their own meme surges within them after a meme is made, largely unaffected by the discussions on other platforms. Instagram memes can move between Reddit and Twitter, but rarely are built on in Instagram itself.

Stage 2 is the true beginning of the meme's journey: it is saved and posted to many other places online, often including Tumblr and iFunny, the worst places for the meme to be picked up, however they are crucial in the growth of the meme, spreading to the lowest points of the internet.

Stage 3 can often start in the middle of stage 2: it is used in chat rooms and apps like Discord and Teamspeak. This boosts the growth of the meme to astronomic levels, as the meme is now used in a personal creative way or spread to large amounts of people through a lot of small groups.

Stage 4 is the end of the road: after a specified amount of time (depending on how funny or well-used the meme was) the meme dies. It moves onto the afterlife by being posted to Facebook, or being reviewed by PewDiePie. On FB, the meme is laughed at by the elderly, and soon after becomes completely irrelevant and overshadowed by the next big meme.

It must be noted that 4chan is secretly in every stage.

A scientific term. iFunny's Law states that nobody can truly feel joy as long as they have an iFunny account. Creating an iFunny account significantly increases your chance to become unfunny or politically extreme. This unfunniness is learned through absolutely every meme that gets to be in "featured" on the app, all of which are not funny.

iFunny users, now sub-human and no longer able to understand good humor, resort to shitting on every other meme page on the internet, such as Tumblr or Reddit, for their comedy. The only way to potentially break iFunny's Law is for an active user to post comments on featured posts that improve on the initial meme, or otherwise are actually funny opposite to the post.

The best way to avoid iFunny's Law is to only use the app to create one's own content or only having chat rooms with friends, but the effort it would take to create something original on the app, or to have a user find friends, is enormous and a near impossible feat.
(doge meme)
iFunny User: This was not at all funny, give me top comment, the app is dying, n-word. Still better than Tumblr tho.
Intelligent person: You just enabled iFunny's Law on Doge, wtf??

A scientific term. Reddit's Law states three key concepts:
1) A meme can never die, it will always come back into the spotlight either to continue its evolution or else to be used in a crossover meme. Both scenarios often result in the meme being significantly less funny than it originally was, and are rarely successful. Dead memes being brought back usually means this time it dies 10x faster than the first time.

2) For every post, there is an equal and opposite repost. Because a lot of new meme content can start out on Reddit, a new meme being created successfully would mean a surge of this meme across the internet. This surge is known as the Platform Cycle over the whole internet, but also occurs independently across Reddit. As the meme spreads, it will die out in most places except Reddit as stated in the above concept.

3) You must stay on your own subreddit. Posting a Weed Meme on a subreddit for Gun Safety would result in the user responsible being crucified, as the Weed Meme was not posted to r/weed or r/dankmemes.
(posts a doge meme to a car subreddit)
Car Subreddit Members: You are now dead
Meme Subreddit Users: I will take this and post it to it's appropriate place (all 50 people say simultaneously)
(there is now a surge of Doge memes across Reddit)
Intelligent person: This one idiot in a car subreddit accidentally enabled Reddit's Law on Doge, now Doge will just get less and less funny smh.

A scientific term. Tumblr's Law states that when a Tumblr user directly mentions or implies that a joke is funny, the joke is no longer funny. This can be commonly done through saying that a meme is hilarious, but can also be completed through such an action as laughing.

When a Tumblr User (commonly self-identified by a person with an active Tumblr account) laughs at something that could be considered humorous, every living being within a 5 mile radius instantly stops feeling joy for a short time. After this event, the joke is no longer funny, and it can no longer be referenced.

The only potential Tumblr Users then have for humor is in creating jokes, but hopefully it is not attempted on Tumblr.
