"Darf" is "Darfur" shortened. Because Darfur, a region in Sudan, is fucked up (see War in Darfur, and remember that the UN has declared that it is not a genocide) calling someone a darf is to call them unfortunate, underprivileged, and fucked up with many potential, interwoven, perhaps unfathomable and unlikely, causes. This is to insult their intelligence, pride, etc.
