All of us are sinners and each time we sin, we go against God. God created us to have an intimate relationship with Him but sin divides and shoves us away from God. There is literally no way we can get back to God on our own, no way for us to remove our sins from ourselves alone. The Bible tells us that the punishment of sin is death but God didn't want to send us all to Hell so He sent His perfect Son Jesus to Earth to suffer in the body of a human being and die for us on the cross. In this way, Jesus paid for all of our sins and took upon Him the sins of the world so that we might be saved when we believe in Him. Then God raised Jesus from the dead, thus showing that the sacrifice was accepted and so we can right our relationship with God and have our sins forgiven when we repent of them and put our trust in Jesus.
