The word cucumber was used against slaves, it originated from “cool as a cucumber” The slaves we’re seen as lower humans so the slave owners and white people would mock them and call them cucumbers because they’ll “never be as cool as a cucumber” aka, they’ll never be equal to white people. The white people are the cucumber in this example.
