Vancouver, USA refers to Vancouver, Washington, a mid-size city on the north bank of the Columbia River in Washington State. The “USA” is used to differentiate the city from Vancouver, Canada.
Vancouver, USA has a population of approximately 365,000 people within they city and its surrounding urban areas. Vancouver is ideally situated within an hour’s drive of the Cascade Mountains and the Pacific Ocean. Residents take full advantage of their access to the outdoors and their proximately to Seattle and Portland for museums, arts and festivals.
During the last 20 years Vancouver saw a large influx of newcomers. Many of the new arrivals came from Portland, to get away from the failing public schools, crime and traffic. Most of these people kept their jobs in Portland and continue to commute daily to work, while their families enjoyed a safer, more affordable quality of life. This has cause friction between the two cities. Some Portlanders may lash out at Vancouver because it is in Washington State and not considered part of Portland. More significantly, Portland is not Seattle, this causes much resentment to people from Portland (a.k.a. Lesser Seattle), who desperately want to be seen as a significant and important city, but failed to realize that they are just a second tier regional service center.
So now you know what a great place this is and why there are “hipster doofuses” on this site that are attempting to besmirch her.
When I grow up, I wanna live in Vancouver, USA...
