The currently hypothetical study of alien life(as of 2017 because no real alien life has yet been found), this word will refer to speculative evolution world other than Earth.
The study usually is synonymous to speculative evolution and is frequently used during worldbuilding by authors to get some realistic alien life from(s).
Hence a part of SciFi.
